One construction worker was killed and another injured when a trench they were working on as part of a sewer project caved in and trapped them.
Longwood police and Seminole County firefighters were sent to Warren Avenue and Oak Street around 1:43 p.m. for reposts of a worker pinned in a dirt trench at a construction site.
Crews dug a large trench in the roadway as part of a sewer project and in the process, dirt caved in and trapped the two workers. First responders removed the trapped workers from the trench.
One victim was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center in stable condition while the other was taken to Orlando Health Seminole Hospital, where he or she died.
