Grand Island Man Accused of Hot-Wiring Construction Equipment

A Grand Island, NY, man, Jared A. Sander, 31, was arrested and charged with grand larceny, resisting arrest, obstructing governmental administration and criminal mischief after he allegedly hot-wired a Bobcat it and drove it nearly half of a mile before crashing it into a telephone pole.

Erie County Sheriff's Deputies Mike Haug and Dan Milbrandt responded to the site of a Walgreens store under construction to investigate a citizen complaint of someone's attempt to steal the machinery and chased down Sander when he attempted to flee.
