First Glimpse of New Iron at Conexpo-Con/Agg 2005

Sept. 28, 2010

Similar in design to the BW161AD-4 HF, the new BW190AD-4 is a tandem vibratory roller fitted with 79-inch-wide drums. Slanted drum-support legs and the open design of the front and rear frames enhance visibility to both drums and to sprinkler systems. A 131-hp Deutz water-cooled diesel engine provides the power to deliver 28,800 pounds of centrifugal force in its low-amplitude/high-frequency (3,600 vpm) setting, and 40,950 pounds in its high-amplitude/low-frequency (2,880 vpm) setting.

Gradall

The versatility of the Gradall boom gets a further boost with a 6-foot live extension, available for the company's XL-4000 Series II excavators, both from the factory or as a field retrofit. With the live boom, the machine can reach over obstacles and then down 6 feet with its 60-inch ditching bucket. The new configuration maintains the low profile of the standard Gradall boom, which tilts 220 degrees, allowing the machine to work under low overhead obstructions.

Komatsu

The new SK1026-5 skid-steer loader, with an operating weight of 8,134 pounds, pushes the company's skid-steer line into heavyweight territory. The machine has a standard rated operating capacity of 2,650 pounds, or 2,850 pounds when equipped with an optional counterweight kit. The vertical-lift loader has a standard two-speed travel system, is powered by an 84-hp Komatsu diesel engine, and has a 21-gpm auxiliary-hydraulic system that operates at 3,045 psi. A 34-gpm Super Flow system is optional.

Caterpillar

Replacing "R Series II" machines, the D8T, D9T and D10T track-type tractors meet Tier 3 emissions regulations with Cat's ACERT engines. The D8T is powered by a 347-hp C15 engine, the D9T by a 464-hp C18, and the D10T by a 646-hp C27. All three engines have an engine controller, which manages fuel delivery and airflow. Cabs are 8 inches wider and offer improved sight lines. A new Advisor Monitoring System provides on-board diagnostics to minimize downtime and maximize performance.

Gomaco

New from GOMACO is a paving mold with a detachable telescoping auger/strike-off. This innovation, says the company, gives contractors the benefit of a mold that be either an open-front or auger/strike-off. The latter is designed to move independently with hydraulically adjustable mounts on the front of the mold. A self-supporting transition adjuster allows for crowning in the material. To change paving widths, the contractor adds or removes a section of the paving mold, then telescopes the auger and strike-off accordingly.

Link-Belt

With a boom-swing-radius of 130 degrees and a tail swing of only 5 feet 4 inches, the 18,400-pound Link-Belt 80 Spin Ace hydraulic excavator is designed for working in confined spaces. Equipped with standard heating and air-conditioning systems, the new 80 Spin Ace provides a maximum digging depth of 13 feet 9 inches with its standard arm. Features include a 52-hp Isuzu diesel engine and fluid-filled cab mounts.

Miller Electric

Among the new welding products that Miller Electric will introduce at the show is the Bobcat 250, an engine-driven welding generator that is rated at 10,000 watts of useable peak power. The model uses Miller's exclusive Tri-Cor technology, which improves the unit's stick-welding performance, as well as smoothes welding output and reduces spatter when using E7018 stick electrodes, without sacrificing E6010 performance.

Bobcat

Model S205 is designed to provide the performance of a mid-sized skid-steer loader in a particularly compact package. It has a 2,050-pound rated operating load, yet has an operating width of just 66 inches, which can be trimmed to 60 inches with optional offset rims. The new vertical-lift-path S205 has a lift height of 118.2 inches.

Atlas Copco

According to Atlas Copco, the new HB 7000 hydraulic breaker attachment is not only the largest model in the company's line, but also the largest model in the world. The HB 7000's service weight of more than 13 tons and its capacity to deliver 450 bpm, says the manufacturer, suits the tool for primary and secondary quarry breaking, as well as for demolition, trenching, tunneling and foundation work. The HB 7000 can accept a maximum hydraulic flow of 119 gpm at a system pressure of 2,610 psi.

Lincoln Electric

The new Vantage 300 engine-driven welder/generator is housed in a compact, corrosion-resistant stainless-steel case and has the company's Chopper Technology, which is designed to enhance starts and to provide a smooth arc for general-stick, downhill-pipe, TIG or wire welding. Powered by a four-cylinder, water-cooled Kubota diesel engine, the Vantage 300 provides 300 amps of DC welding output and 12,500 watts of three-phase 240V AC generator power for equipment such as plasma cutters, pumps or inverter welder.

New Holland

Three new crawler dozers in New Holland's DC Series—the DC75, DC85 and DC95—feature hydrostatic drive systems and have horsepower ratings of 75, 84 and 96, respectively. In the cab, adjustable controls allow operators to set their preferences, and the sloping hood enhances visibility to the blade. These new dozers use a sealed-and-lubricated track chain as standard equipment and provide easy-to-use diagnostic panels for hydraulic-pressure and electrical checks.

Shuttlelift

A stout new crane from Shuttlelift, the model 5540F Carrydeck, has a 15-ton rated lift capacity on outriggers and is compactly built for service in tight situations. Available with gas or diesel power, the crane has a 10-ton deck-carrying capacity. An optional four-section boom is 52 feet long.

Mustang

Three new skid-steer loaders—models 2066, 2076 and 2086—have rated operating loads of 2,000, 2,200 and 2,600 pounds, respectively. The 2066 replaces the 2064; the 2076 replaces the 2074; and the 2086 is an addition to the top of the Mustang line. All three machines are fitted with a Cummins engine, and the replacement models have more breakout force, more axle torque and greater lift capacity than their predecessors. All machines use Mustang's new cabin enclosure.

Terex

New to the Terex line of Super Quiet Generators is the model T45, providing a prime-power output of 36 kW and delivering both single and three-phase outputs, which can be used simultaneously. Three-phase outputs are available in 208-, 220-, 240-, 416-, 440- and 480-volt configurations, with an optional 600-volt version. Single-phase outputs of 120, 127, 139, 240, 254 and 277 volts are standard.

Gehl

Gehl has refined the design of two of its RS-Series rough-terrain telescopic handlers, the RS6 and RS8. Both models are fitted with a redesigned operator's station, which treats the operator to more room and pilot controls. The RS8, rated at 8,000 pounds capacity, is now available with boom lengths of 42 and 44 feet. The RS6 has an increased rated lift capacity—6,600 pounds—and also now has a longer, 42-foot boom.

Loegering

The Versatile Track System (VTS) from Loegering, an ASV company, is a rubber-track undercarriage system designed for bolting to the hubs of skid-steer loaders with wheelbases ranging from 43 to 51.5 inches. VTS can be installed in about an hour, says Loegering, and removed as quickly when wheels are preferred. The system has an independent, bi-directional, torsion-suspension system and typically yields ground pressures of less than 5 psi.

RexCon

The 12-yard Tilt-Up mixer, a new product in the RexCon range, is designed for fast setup, high performance and simple maintenance. A single-pivot tilt point provides 60 degrees of inclination, and double-speed drum return reduces cycle times. The mixing drum is lined with abrasion-resistant, segmented liners, and the wearing edges of the mixing blades are reversible. Poly liners for the drum and blades are optional.
