[VIDEO] Virtual Rendering Shows Ala. Bridge and Bayway Project
A flyover video shows how Alabama’s I-10 Mobile River Bridge and Bayway will change after a multibillion construction project partially funded by federal grants. The video shows a virtual rendering of the project, and was produced by ALDOT.
The U.S. Department of Transportation has awarded two Infrastructure for Rebuilding America (INFRA) grants to fund the projects. The first $125 million DOT INFRA grant will assist in the construction of a new bridge. The project will also expand the existing Bayway, and is estimated to cost $2.1 billion in total.
The second grant will provide $6.9 million to the City of Tuscaloosa to replace an overpass bridge. According to the WKRG report, the grant will “allow for the replacement of aging infrastructure and provide critical vehicular and pedestrian access improvements.”
The INFRA grants program aims to advance the Administration’s goals of rebuilding the nation’s infrastructure.
Congressman Bradley Byrne (R-AL) released the following statement, found in a WKRG article:
“This is outstanding news for the people of Southwest Alabama! Fighting for federal funding for this bridge has been one of my top priorities in Congress, and I am glad the Trump Administration has come through with this grant award.”
