Cummins Squeezes 110 HP from a 3.3-Liter
Sept. 28, 2010
Cummins replaced its B4.5 — a 4.5-liter mechanically injected engine that produced 104 horsepower and 305 ft.-lbs. of torque — with the electronically controlled 3.3-liter QSB3.3engine, and actually gained peak horsepower (to 110 hp) while holding peak torque at 304 ft.-lbs. The QSB3.3 delivers premium electronic-control features such as engine-protecting auto-derates. The Tier-3-compliant engine weighs about a third less than the B4.5 and operates safely on any of the world's high-sulfur fuel.
