The C4.4 engine is aimed at equipment manufacturers who are looking to downsize, and with the company’s engine-mounted aftertreatment, it allows machine manufacturers to remove cost and complexity from their installation, the company says.
The 4-cylinder, 4.4-liter Caterpillar engine is available in multiple power ratings from 110 to 200 horsepower, with peak torque reaching 609 lb.-ft.
The C13B may be used as an industrial power unit—a plug-and-play solution that minimizes machine design, validation, and installation costs, Cat says. It is built on a 12.5-liter core and has logged more than 123 million off-highway hours. The engine is available in multiple power ratings from 456 to 577 horsepower, with peak torque reaching 1,943 lb.-ft. The C13B delivers 20 percent more power and 19 percent more torque, and the aftertreatment is 65 percent smaller than the previous model, enabling machine manufacturers to downsize their engine platforms.
