Designed with Caterpillar's ACERT technology, Perkins' Tier 3 compliant 4- and 6-cylinder 1100D Series engines feature ratings to 250 horsepower. Fuel consumption shows improvement over existing Tier 2 engines, says Perkins, and new combustion technology has helped lower engine noise by 3 dB(A). The engines will be available in the U.S. in July 2005.
