m-Series Rammer hydraulic impact hammers (the m-14 and m-18) have extra-heavy pistons for an efficient power-to-weight ratio. A modular design allows major assemblies to be serviced separately, and they use no tie rods or tie bolts to secure the modules. Impact energy is adjustable to match working conditions, and the user can select either of two operating modes. "Easy-start" mode allows operators to use the hammer when little pre-load can be applied (such as in horizontal breaking), and the auto-shut-off mode ceases hammer operation when sufficient pre-load is lost.
