The Atlas Copco SmartROC D65 surface drill rig has been upgraded to enable direct communication with the rig control system through a computer network. The drill allows drill plans from the office to be installed into the control system via direct download from local area or wireless networks. The unit is designed for drilling in the 4-1/3- to 8-inch range to depths of 175 feet. An onboard Atlas Copco XRX10 compressor supplies 435 psi, and a Caterpillar C15 539-horsepower engine runs the rig.
