Caterpillar D3 Series Skid Steer, Compact Track Loaders

Oct. 9, 2019

Cat D3 Series of skid steer and compact track loaders, which includes 16 models, feature control enhancements. Smart Attachments technology automatically converts machine controls to align with the operational and informational needs of the attachment. Return-to-Dig and Work Tool Positioner assist operators with repetitive tasks and are bundled with the dual-direction self-level feature.

Cab enhancements include a wider-opening door, and the distance between joystick pods has been increased by 3 inches for more space inside the cab.

On the Caterpillar compact track loaders, undercarriage frame and torsion axles have been changed to reduce pitching and rocking. Two-speed travel is enhanced, with the 279D3 and 289D3 delivering a top speed of 8.4 mph, which is 20 percent faster than D Series. The 239D3 and 249D3 now have 2-speed transmissions rather than the previous single speed, giving them a 9-percent increase in travel speed.

The XHP performance nomenclature is replaced with XE on the 272 and 299 models.
