New Holland Replaces L230 with L234 Skid Steer Loader

Oct. 24, 2016

The L234 replaces the L230 and is the company’s most powerful skid steer loader. Powered by a 90-horsepower Fiat FPT F5B engine that uses SCR technology, the loader has rated operating capacity of 3,400 pounds at 50 percent tipping load. Operating weight is 8,900 pounds, bucket breakout force is 9,323 pounds, and lift arm breakout is 6,918 pounds. The hydraulic system delivers more pressure, 3,450 psi, than the predecessor with high flow of 37.6 gpm.

Cab improvements include ergonomically placed controls and electonics. The Super Boom design eliminates rear towers for rear visibility at angled views with the crossbar located low and out of the way.

A newly designed boom stop prevents steel-on-steel contact and wear, and can be changed for different carrying heights. When pushing into a pile, the boom will carry the load back into the boom stops, allowing the main frame to absorb he force.

Cabs flip forward for service access, and a second person is required to lock out the lift cylinders once the boom is in the air.
