Next-generation EH4000AC-5 Hitachi haul truck is a rigid-frame model with a payload of 266 tons and maximum speed of 40 mph.
The Dash 5 is a redesign of the Dash 3 haul truck, incorporating “metal fabrication technologies” used in the company’s design of its excavators for a stronger frame and body. The suspension is also stronger than the predecessor truck.
The Hitachi EH4000AC-5 has AC drive with three driving modes: High Power, Power, and Eco. Wet brakes front and back are paired with an enhanced retarder for deceleration. It offers more stable braking than the predecessor during long downhill operation and has a new brake pedal, offering both hydraulic and electric braking.
The truck can be upgraded to fully electric with batteries and a trolley dynamic charging system.
