Volvo Adds SD125 Soil Compactor

Sept. 20, 2024
Unit has 935 pounds more mass than the SD115 soil compactor.

SD125 Volvo soil compactor has an operating weight of 26,565 pounds, similar to the Volvo SD115 but with a 0.2-inch thicker drum shell and a heavier outer eccentric weight. The new 147.5-horsepower compactor has 935 pounds of additional mass on the drum than the SD115, which also enables it to operate on 35% slopes.

Operators can adjust dynamic drum forces with a switch. Another switch adjusts drum frequencies. The center joint provides 35-degree articulation both ways and 12 degrees of drum oscillation.

A heavy-duty axle is integrated into the drivetrain for an efficient rear wheel drive system. The No-Spin differential provides traction and gradeability and eliminates tire slippage. A high-traction variant is available where additional torque is needed.

All three levels of Compact Assist software are available on the in-cab tablet, allowing users to choose visibility, mapping, and reporting features. The emergency stop system shuts down the engine, applies the brakes, and stops the machine’s movement if the operator rises from the seat for more than five seconds during operation.
