Production-class loaders feature E-Drive variable transmission.

Models 744 X Tier and 824 X Tier John Deere wheel loaders incorporate the Electric Variable Transmission (EVT) E-Drive system, which replaces the traditional transmission and torque converter. The E-Drive component provides instant power, while simplifying operation and reducing complexity.

The hybrid design provides up to a 7% total cost of ownership lifecycle advantage over conventional drive systems, according to the company.

A John Deere JD9 diesel serves as the primary power source for the wheel loaders, providing 325 horsepower to the Deere 744 X Tier and 354 horsepower to the Deere 824 X Tier. Operating weight ranges are 56,524 to 59,267 pounds and 59,994 to 62,840 pounds, respectively.

The production-class Deere X Tier units feature technologies designed for high performance.

“These production-class loaders are not just about saving our customers downtime and costs associated with ownership,” said Katie Voelliger, product marketing manager, in a statement, “but they also embody our commitment to offering premium features, hybrid solutions, and advanced technologies on machines of all sizes, including our large wheel loaders.”

Constant engine speed contributes to a quieter cab environment, and the X Tier cabs have premium seats. An optional Tire Pressure Monitoring System ensures that tires maintain proper inflation.

The Advanced Vision System and Advanced Object Detection provide operators with an improved range of view on both sides of the loader and better visibility beyond conventional mirrors, compared with predecessors. Dynamic reversal projected path lines assist with visualizing the anticipated reversal path to ensure a better line of site. Deluxe LED lights help amplify vision in tough-to-see settings.

The updated wheel loaders are equipped with Pile Slip Assist that offers proactive differential lock ahead of pile engagement, which reduces tire slip, improves bucket fill, and lowers cycle time.

Fuel-efficient operational modes include Standard and Performance. Default Standard Mode delivers up to 25% reduced fuel consumption while keeping sustainability a priority and ensuring productivity. Performance Mode makes productivity the top priority with 5% increased performance and 15% reduced fuel consumption.
