Kubota KX080-5 Excavator Replaces KX080-4

Dash 5 upgrades include 2-pump load-sensing system.

Kubota has launched its largest excavator yet, the KX080-5.

It’s a 66.6-horsepower unit with a maximum dig depth of 15 feet 1 inch, and it has an operating weight of 18,520 pounds. Maximum dumping height is 17 feet 2.7 inches, and bucket breakout force is 14,660 lb.-ft.

The 2-pump load-sensing system improves the overall smoothness of operation when using attachments, and the auto-shift system enables automatic travel shift from high to low depending on traction effort and terrain.

A Kubota engine features a common rail system and is equipped with CRS and a DPF, which the company says reduces maintenance by increasing the service intervals for the regeneration filter and ash cleaner.

The new programmable Engine Auto Stop feature turns off the engine when idling up to 30 minutes, and an Auto Idling System reduces engine rpm instinctively when high engine speed isn’t needed, and the control levers are in neutral for more than 4 seconds.

With a movement of the thumb-operated rocker switch on the dozer level, the unit’s hydraulic angle blade can be angled to the right or left to push soil to the side as the machine moves forward, eliminating the need for repetitive repositioning at right angles when backfilling trenches. The 7- foot 2.6-inch blade has a 25-degree pivot angle.

A contoured, tight tail design creates a short rear overhang.

The Kubota KX080-5 cab has a double adjustable air suspension seat equipped with a slide that can be double adjusted to find the right level of comfort, and the joystick consoles on the left and right sides can be adjusted independent of the seat to match individual operator requirements.

A new full-color 7-inch LCD monitor with jog dial provides operators with vital information and access to functions like auxiliary flow adjustment and automatic activation of 3rd line hydraulic return.

A factory-designed rear-view camera displays a fish-eye view of the rear of the KX080-5 on the monitor while reversing. LED work lights with turn off delay allow the lights to remain on for up to two minutes after the engine is turned off so the operator can exit the machine and worksite under full illumination.

For maintenance, all three of the excavator’s access panels can open at once. The center hood reveals all the hydraulic components; the battery, oil filter, and toolbox are under the right hood.

Overall air circulation in the cab has improved with a stronger cooling/heating unit and the positioning of eight vents.

The KX080-5 replaces the Kubota KX080-4.
