The Cat M320 wheeled excavator in a Next Gen upgrade that replaces its Cat M320F wheeled excavator. The 174-horsepower machine has a maximum dig depth of 19 feet 9 inches and a maximum loading height of 22 feet 10 inches. Operating weight ranges from 41,450 to 46,740 pounds.
Swing torque is 9 percent greater than in the Cat M320F, and a longer wheelbase improves stability and ride. Maximum roading speed is 21.7 mph. Design upgrades reduce the time it takes for daily maintenance, says Caterpillar, and extend filter life and service intervals.
A dedicated swing pump provides consistent power, and the hydraulic system automatically balances power and efficiency to give operators more machine control for precise working requirements. Heavy lift mode boosts lifting capacities.
Longer-lasting filters provide savings of up to 5 percent, and the new hydraulic filter offers 50 percent longer service life than previous filter designs. Anti-drain valves safeguard from contaminating the oil during replacement and deliver improved filtration performance and a 3,000-hour replacement interval. Two fuel filtration levels better protect the engine from dirt particles in the diesel, says Caterpillar.
All daily maintenance points are checked from ground level, and the excavator has centralized grease points with an available automatic lubrication system option.
Two larger Next Gen cab designs–Deluxe and Premium–are available for the new M320, along with a10-in touchscreen monitor with jog dial.
Standard rearview and right-side cameras, along with large cab windows with small cab pillars help to improve jobsite visibility.
