Kubota R540, R640 Wheel Loaders

Feb. 18, 2021

The new Kubota R640 wheel loader features a 64-horsepower Tier-4 Final engine. It has an operating weight of 11,563 pounds, and a max breakout force of 9,869 pounds, and 8,161 pounds of lifting capacity. An additional model, the R540, features a 54-horsepower Tier-4 Final engine. The machine has an operating weight of 10,285 pounds, max breakout force of 8,183 pounds, and 6,767 pounds of lifting capacity.

Cabs on both machines feature an enlarged front window, and a new full-sized, all-glass right-side window that is the same size as the entrance door, providing 360-degree visibility around the machines. The new right-side window also allows greater visibility of the front-right tire. Arms have been redesigned for better visibility when connecting attachments with the hydraulic coupler, enabling operators to connect attachments without getting out of the cab.

A reconfigured console and switch layout also provides operators with more foot and leg room. The standard multi-function control lever controls forward, neutral, reverse, and additional major loader functions.

The R540 and R640 also feature standard LED working lights, transitioning from halogen lights.
