A newly-designed, large-capacity torque converter provides the 299-horsepower Komatsu WA480-6 wheel loader with increased tractive effort for added productivity in V-cycle applications, says Komatsu America. Improved hill-climbing ability allows gears to be up-shifted faster due to improved acceleration, achieving higher gear ranges and maintaining higher ground speeds when working in load-and-carry applications. Weighing up to 56,340 pounds, the WA480-6 offers dumping clearance of 10 feet 6 inches when equipped with a 6-cubic-yard general-purpose bucket.
