Torque rise in the 30-ton HM300-2 articulated truck grew from 30 to 40 percent with the transition to a Tier 3 engine, and the truck gained 16 horsepower. Komatsu beefed up the transmission's shafts to handle the extra grunt. The truck should come out of the hole more powerfully, and Komatsu estimates 11- to 12-percent improved productivity. Maximum GVW is increased to 113,360 pounds.
