Al Quinn Retires from Hitachi
Al Quinn has retired as CEO of Hitachi Construction Machinery Americas. He will be replaced by Hidehiko Matsui as chairman/CEO. Simon Wilson is the new COO. Sonosuke Ishii has also retired as chairman.
Matsui was stationed in Europe from 2007 to 2012. From 2018 to 2021, he was the chairman and managing director of Hitachi Construction Machinery Asia and Pacific Pte. Ltd., the regional headquarters for Southeast Asia. From 2022 to March 2025, he was CMOfficer/president of the Global Marketing Group, and President of the Rental and Used Equipment Business Unit. His extensive experience in the rental and used equipment business will provide leadership in the expansion of the rental business in the North American market.
Simon Wilson previously served as VP of construction at Hitachi Construction Machinery Americas. He will have full management control of the company, taking on all of Quinn’s previous responsibilities. Wilson, who has been in the industry for over 28 years, was hired by Quinn to help with the inception of the company and will bring a progressive leadership style to continue the success of the brand in the region, according to the company.
