Develon DX89R-7 mini excavator digs to 13 feet 6 inches.

The DX89R-7 Develon excavator replaces the DX85R-3 mini excavator. The 10-ton excavator digs to 13 feet 6 inches and can load at heights up to 15 feet 5 inches. Its D24 diesel powerplant produces 65 horsepower at 2,100 rpm.

Operating weight was boosted on the Dash 7 machine to 21,005 pounds. A new counterweight design provides better stability for increased lifting capacity compared to the Dash 3 excavator it replaces. Traction force is also higher due to the machine’s higher weight, giving users the ability to push material more efficiently with a dozer blade.

A thumb switch on the left joystick controls the excavator’s boom swing, which aids operations in a confined space, when the operator needs to dig next to an existing structure or obstacle.

The quick coupler significantly reduces the time it takes to switch attachments, and quick coupler piping comes standard on the Develon DX89R-7 mini excavator. An optional second set of hydraulics facilitates the use of multi-functional attachments, such as a tiltrotator. The backfill dozer blade has blade float, which allows the blade to follow the contours of the ground without operator input.

The Develon excavator has a swing-open tailgate and side-access hood for access to the engine and pump package, valve bank, cooling system, and hydraulic system. Everyday maintenance items such as filters, fluids, air cleaner, and battery are also easier to reach than on the predecessor. A centralized grease bank enhances the ability to add grease to the machine.
