The 18Z-1 and 19C-1 compact excavators are designed for construction, landscaping, and rental customers.

The larger of the two machines is the 19C-1, which is a 4,211-pound conventional tailswing model. The smaller 18Z-1 has an operating weight of 3,856 pounds and is the company’s first zero tailswing machine in the 1- to 2-ton excavator class. The machines feature all-steel bodywork, a rental-ready design with protection for hydraulic rams and hoses, 500-hour greasing intervals, and a swing-out counterweight to provide full access to the engine bay. Integrated tie-down points aid transportation without damaging the tracks.

The units also share a common undercarriage with machined faces, and a revised idler design delivers improved ride quality and reduces track stalling in loose material, according to JCB. Additionally, the redesigned dozer blade, with easy-to-install dozer wings, is available with standard arms or optional long-reach arms that enable digging close to the machine. Rubber tracks are standard; steel tracks are an available option. Two dipper arm lengths are available: 3 feet 1 inch or 3 feet 7 inches. The 5-foot 11-inch main boom features a top-mounted ram to protect the hydraulic cylinder. The excavators are powered by a 23.1-horsepower Perkins diesel.
