Liebherr R 9200 Mining Excavator

Sept. 30, 2016

The R 9200 excavator matches haul trucks with payloads up to 154 tons. Powered by a Cummins QSK38 engine that delivers 1,086 horsepower, the machine has a standard bucket volume of 16.3 cubic yards and can be configured as either a shovel or backhoe.

The excavator uses the patented Litronic Plus intelligent power management system that enhances electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic power distribution. Combined with a closed-loop hydraulic swing circuit, this system allows the machine to cycle faster and consume less fuel. Efficiency is further enhanced by the use of an on-demand cooling control for both water and oil. The independent cooling circuits eliminate parasitic loss while diverting power to the attachment.

Technicians access the upper structure via a powered 45-degree stairway that directs them to the centralized major service points, which can be reached from this single-level service platform. The engine is surrounded by wide platforms for safe access. Hydraulic pumps are accessible through wide open service doors adjacent to a large catwalk.
