Doosan DD100 Dozer

Dec. 8, 2021

Hyundai Doosan Infracore showed a “pre-prototype” version of its first crawler dozer during a media event in Tucson, Arizona, saying that the first unit will be available in North America in the second quarter of 2022.

Here, engineering manager Mooyoung Park describes the dozer’s visibility and blade features.

Company officials said the dozer category is the first of several that Doosan will be adding to its offering over the next three years as it targets $10 billion in sales by 2025. The company aims to offer a “full line” of equipment to its dealers so that they can be a “one-stop shop,” Park said. Current plans for crawler dozers include the DD100 dozer in the third quarter of 2022, and the DD130 in the second quarter of 2023.

Hyundai Doosan Infracore is now part of Hyundai Heavy Industries and is housed under the same holding company as Hyundai Construction Equipment: Hyundai Genuine. Each entity has separate management, and the brands will remain separate, according to CEO Edward Song.

The dozer on display was a 122-horsepower DD100 Doosan dozer with an operating weight of 25,309 pounds. A second dozer, at 130 horsepower, will be introduced in the first half of 2023. The two dozers fit in what Park called the largest segment of the dozer market, those less than 140 horsepower.

The Doosan DD100 will feature an 8-inch Smart Touch display, standard rearview camera, LED lights, and wiper blades front, rear, and side.

The company emphasized operator visibility, citing large glass areas and an inline precleaner that reduces an obstruction to the view from the cab over the hood.

The dozer will come with a 6-way variable-angle-pitch blade, Park said. The standard blade has a capacity of 3.0 cubic yards, and the low-ground-pressure configuration will carry a blade with a 3.4-cubic-yard capacity. Pitch angle can be adjusted from 54 to 58 degrees, and the blade has a shake function.
