Komatsu iMC 2.0 is available on its D51-24 and D61i-24 crawler dozers. The Komatsu dozers are 131 and 168 horsepower, respectively.
New technology in the version upgrade include the company’s patent-pending proactive dozing control, introduced at Conexpo 2020. The system helps operators to automatically cut or strip from existing terrain. The dozer measures the terrain as it tracks over it, then uses the data to plan the next pass. Komatsu asserts that productivity can be improved by up to 60 percent.
Lift layer control automatically lets operators spread fill from existing terrain with the press of a button. The process is similar: The dozer measures the terrain to plan the next pass. Production can be doubled with consistent layers for compaction quality, according to the company.
Other new features include tilt steering control automatically tilts the blade to maintain straight travel during rough dozing, which reduces operator steering input by up to 80 percent, and quick surface creation that can create a temporary design surface and enable work to begin while waiting for the finish grade model.
