The L Series Deere backhoes loaders includes six models: 310L EP, 310L, 310SL, 310SL HL, 315SL and 410L.
A Tier 4-Final John Deere PowerTech Plus diesel engine powers the 310L (93 horsepower), 310SL (99 horsepower), 310SL HL (110 horsepower), 315SL (99 horsepower), and 410L (113 horsepower); a Tier 4-Interim PowerTech engine is used in the 310L EP and rated at 70 horsepower. The 310SL, 310SL HL, 315SL and 410L use a five-speed PowerShift transmission and provide speeds to 25 mph. The Autoshift option provides a lock-up torque converter for direct-drive fuel efficiency and automatically selects the best gear for a specific load.
The 310SL HL heavy-lift backhoe loader is a new addition to the John Deere lineup and is designed for significant craning capability—at the push of a button. Along with the 410L, the 310SL HL can deliver up to 25 percent more backhoe-lift capacity under normal conditions than comparable K-Series models. Utilizing the sealed-switch module, operators can get an additional 10-15 percent boost through the new Lift Mode feature. The engine is automatically set at 1,400 rpm and the machine maximizes hydraulic pressure for increased craning capability.
Features in the cab of the new backhoe loader models include extra legroom, more comfortable seat, and redesigned pilot towers with fingertip electro-hydraulic controls. A multifunction lever on the steering column controls turn signals, wipers, and lights, allowing the operator to maintain line of sight to the front of the machine while operating in the loader position, says Deere.
A new palm-on-top loader-control grip enables control of clutch disconnect, quick shift, auxiliary proportional roller, and momentary front-wheel drive. In addition, the L Series has ann advanced diagnostics system with a multi-language monitor. Which allows programming time-specific functions, such as auto shutdown and auto idle.
Other enhanced L Series backhoe loader features include a redesigned HVAC system, adjustable mechanical or air-suspension seat, lower and larger steps for entry and egress, a new lighting scheme with optional LED lighting kit, and an elevated canopy for better visibility to both the front and rear of the backhoe.
All backhoes also have the option to add premium radio with Bluetooth auxiliary input and XM Satellite Radio capability. An optional Auto Ride system field kit allows adjustable ground speed settings for the 310SL, 310SL HL, 315SL and 410L. The system automatically engages or disengages the machine’s loader hydraulics to act as a shock absorber, creating a smoother ride for the operator and reducing spillage from the loader bucket.
An Economy mode, designed to save fuel, is a standard feature for L-Series backhoes. When activated, maximum engine speed is limited in both loader and backhoe operations. A variable-speed electronically controlled fan automatically speeds up or slows down, operating only as needed, says the company, to maintain proper temperatures and to conserve power and fuel, while also reducing sound levels.
The L Series backhoe loaders feature same-side ground-level service points, quick-change filters, extended service intervals, simple-to-read sight gauges, and easy-access grease points. In additional, stacked-assembly coolers are hinged and tilt away from the radiator for convenient core cleanout.
