New from Trimble are two construction-layout tools, the Spectra Precision LP20 and LP40 laser pointers. The dual-beam, self-leveling LP20 projects one beam up and one down—up to 100 feet—allowing it to be used as a one-person, plumb-point-transfer device. The LP-40, also self-leveling, projects the LP20's two vertical beams, plus two horizontal beams, offset at 90 degrees, for "level" and "square" reference points. The laser pointers are designed to withstand a drop of 3 feet onto concrete with no loss of accuracy.
