The injured and families of those killed when a tower crane collapsed during dismantling were awarded $150 million in a settlement. The incident in Seattle occurred in April 2019.
According to news reports, a jury found all four construction companies negligent, but only three responsible for the injuries and deaths and included in the settlement.
- GLY Construction leased the crane: Negligent
- Northwest Tower Crane Service, in charge of setting up and dismantling: 45 percent negligent and responsible
- Omega Morgan, mobile crane subcontractor: 30 percent negligent and responsible
- Morrow Equipment owned the crane: 25 percent negligent and responsible
Morrow was not involved in the lawsuit, however, so it is not liable for its portion of the settlement, leaving $112 million for the victims. Reports say separate claims are proceeding against Morrow.
