Tadano GR-150XL-3, GR-800XL-4, GR-1000XLL-4 RT Cranes
Tadano GR-150XL-3 rough terrain crane, GR-800XL-4, and GR-1000XLL-4 RT cranes are available in North America.
Tadano GR-150XL-3
The GR-150XL-3, a new compact model for the North American market, is fitted with a 78.7-foot boom, has minimal tail swing of 4.1 feet, and asymmetric outriggers, suiting the new model for tight work spaces. The machine features a new operator’s cab with improved visibility and an underslung hydraulic off-set jib. Outriggers can be safely deployed asymmetrically, and the AML-E system detects extension and provides maximum lifting capacity for the surrounding area of the crane.
A new operator’s cab provides more comfort and better visibility by changing the angle and height of the instrument panel in relation to the glass, says the company, and the new-generation Tadano automatic moment limiter (AML-E) replaces the current 5.7-inch black and white screen with a 10.4-inch color touch-screen. As a part of the Eco function, the GR-150XL-3 has the company’s Positive Control System. The crane controls the quantity of hydraulic pump output during crane operation in response to the amount of movement applied, thereby minimizing the fuel consumption and carbon footprint.
Tadano GR-800XL-4
With an upgraded maximum lift capacity of 80 tons, 154.2-foot boom, and a gross vehicle weight of 99,800 pounds, the GR-800XL-4 is equipped with Tadano’s new generation AML-E2 crane-control system. The cab design and fittings have been remodeled, says Tadano, to improve work efficiency, operability, and visibility. The new large, multi-function color touch-panel display is 10.4 inches and contains crane work information and operation settings. In addition, the pressure-sensitive touch panel display allows operation while wearing gloves. The cab instrument panel shape, height, and angle of the glass face have also been modified, improving visibility from the driver's seat, says the company. The GR-800XL-4 also features the new 20-degree cab-tilt function, designed to help reduce operator fatigue.
A winch-drum monitoring camera checks the winding state of the wire rope when the crane is in operation. Cameras have also been installed on the right front and rear of the crane to enhance visibility when the crane is moving. "Clearance Sonar" also has been installed, which detects obstacles behind the crane. A buzzer and a flashing icon on the display notify the operator if an obstacle is detected.
The new GR-800XL-4 uses a six-speed transmission powered by a Cummins B 6.7 engine, rated at 280 horsepower and EU Stage V/Tier 4 compliant. A new pump disconnect function automatically stops operation of the crane's hydraulic pump if the crane is not operated for a certain period of time, contributing to reduced fuel consumption. The crane is also equipped with functions such as the Fuel Monitoring System, Eco-Mode, and Positive Control that support environmentally-friendly operations by reducing CO2 emissions, improving fuel consumption, and reducing noise, says Tadano.
The Telematics Web Information Service (HELLO-NET) ascertains the crane's operation status using mobile communications, says Tadano, and supports the checking of positional information via GPS and maintenance information on a website. According to Tadano, HELLO-DATA LINK connects cranes to mobile devices by wireless LAN, allowing users to receive pertinent data, including operating status, indications, and error codes.
Tadano GR-1000XLL-4
The GR-1000XLL-4 is designed to work in confined spaces, such as refineries, where operating and maintaining cranes can be challenging. The GR-1000XLL-4 is a full model, featuring a longer boom (167.3 feet), compared with the predecessor model’s boom (154.2 feet). The GR-1000XLL-4 is the first Tadano rough-terrain crane to have the "Smart Counterweight" system, which enables the counterweight to have two mounting positions, increasing the load chart by up to approximately 20 percent in a 360-degree area. The counterweight is also self-removable, making the 99,800-pound crane (without counterweight) easier to transport.
A redesigned cab is designed to provide improved visibility and comfort, says Tadano, featuring a large, multi-function color touch panel display. The GR-1000XLL-4 also uses the new generation AML-E2 crane-control system and Tadano’s proprietary "Smart Chart" system.
As with its companion models, the GR-1000XLL-4’s instrument panel shape, height, and glass angle have also been modified to improve visibility from the seat, and the 20-degree cab tilt function is standard. The new cab also features USB connectivity and an improved air conditioner. Also, the winch drum camera is standard as are right-front and rear cameras, as wells as the Clearance Sonar system.
